How the worksheet is laid out

Each line set is built from the following measurements (all values scale with the chosen letter-height setting):

Line Position (% of cell height) Purpose

The 4-line system (baseline, midline, top line, descender line) is used by many primary-school handwriting materials. Extra large, Large, Medium and Small are relative layout presets, not guaranteed physical measurements or grade placements. Browser and printer scaling affect the final dimensions, so check the first print with a ruler when exact spacing matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

What writing styles does the generator support?
The generator supports three generic font styles: Print, Cursive (connected script rendered with a flowing display font), and Slanted print (a transitional handwritten look). They are not official curriculum letterforms; use the model supplied by a child's school when an exact handwriting program is required.
What are the four guide lines for?
The 4-line option shows a top line, midline, baseline, and descender line. You can also choose 3-line, single-ruled, or no lines. Match the guide format used by the learner’s school or assignment.
How do I save the worksheet as a PDF?
Click "Print / Save PDF" and when the print dialog opens, choose "Save as PDF" (or "Microsoft Print to PDF" on Windows) as your printer destination. On Mac, use the PDF dropdown in the bottom-left of the print dialog.
Is this tool free? Do I need to sign up?
Completely free, no sign-up, no account needed. Everything runs in your browser — nothing you type is sent to a server.
What letter height should I choose for my child's grade?
There is no universal grade-to-size rule. Start with the size used in class, or compare the relative Extra large, Large, Medium, and Small previews and choose one the learner can use comfortably. Printer scaling changes the physical output.
